About Jan Jagran Kendra

The foundation step of the organization was laid by a group of seven young and energetic people in the year 1978 but it was formally registered in the year of 1981-82. All seven members have the past history in alliance to the social and economic development of the state and nation.

Individually, all the members were associated with tribulations of countryside proletariat. They involved in the mass mobilization of seventies and taken up various social awareness steps against various hurdles of socio-economic development.

And in late seventies these people associated to frame Jan Jagran Kendra with a vision to establish an egalitarian, non-exploitative social order with justice and economic self-reliance. Since then the organization is working with an approach of integrated development of rural mass.

The organization has been working on the pillars of social developments such as education, health, women empowerment and on environment. Child development has been one of the prime issues of Jan Jagran Kendra through out the last two-decades. At present, the organization is coordinating from Hazaribag but its efforts to eradicate poverty are spread almost all over the state Jharkhand in India.

Education

Jan Jagran Kendra objective is to provide education to the girls who had never been to school or dropout from school due to some reason and mainstream them to nearby Government school for completion of their primary education and higher education. The children who faced curse of losing their parents in childhood are provided education, skill development training, vocational course training, discipline in life and inclusion in the society. Health

Jan Jagran Kendra Health project aims at prevention of new infection of HIV/AIDS in the High Risk Group. The project is supported by Jharkhand State AIDS Control Society and National AIDS Control Organization under NACP III. To achieve the aim JJK is working with the one to one meetings, one to group meetings and Community Mobilization Activities to increase the outreach. The project aims at increasing outreach for the behaviour change communication, providing services for condom promotion, free STI and Health Services, Linkages with other Health Services and provision of safe spaces through DIC (Drop In Centre). There are 4 PPP Doctors to provide free STI Treatment to the Beneficiaries. Natural Resource Management

The rural and tribal communities mainly depend on the natural resources for their livelihoods. Watershed management is the integrated use of land, vegetation and water in a geographically discrete drainage area for the benefit of its residents, with the objective of protecting or conserving the hydrologic services that the watershed provides and of reducing or avoiding negative downstream or groundwater impacts. Micro-Finance & Entrepreneurship Development

Jan Jagran Kendra has been implementing Ambedkar Hastshilp Vikas Yaojna Programme (AVHY) with the aim to uplift the status of the artisans by helping them to develop their skills with the modern tools and technologies and helping them to market their products in effective and profitable manner. These have been achieved by forming an Artisan Cluster based approach. Under this programme the Artisan form SHG at village level and come together with a common goal, and the artisan are also trained on various aspects ranging from developing skills like to entrepreneurship. Cluster have been formed at block level and by combination of these cluster a federation is been formed at District level.
