MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH CARE
Jan Jagran Kendra’s maternal and child health care has been one of the focal interventions. The core component of this programme is designed to develop and deepen the communities’ understanding of health and ability to work on issues linked to maternal and infant mortality and morbidity.
In INHP III Program, supported by CARE Jharkhand, Jan Jagran Kendra has carried out different activities to meet the program’s intermediate and sub-intermediate results adopting program strategies. The activities covered all aspects of program implementation and were equally executed in our all INHP III program areas. The activities basically comprise of the activities at the field level like AWC visit, household visit, conducting different meetings at village and block level, monitoring the program of immunization, IPCs and BCCs in which common people in remote areas were approached and addressed about health and nutrition. Several BCCs were done to invoke rights awareness and participation of common man in getting health and ICDS services. It led to proper awareness in masses and opened their eyes and they started to come forward demanding their rights for good health and also participating in the process.
- It also encompasses, Improving access to and availability of essential obstetric care (ante-, pre-, and post-natal) and check-ups for various reproductive health problems through camps and village-level functionaries and, where necessary, referrals to government health facilities
- Awareness camps to increase the importance accorded to maternal, infant, and reproductive health care within the communities.
- Providing access to financial resources (through community and block-level funds) that can help women overcome financial obstacles to nutrition and health treatment during pregnancy.
