Children's Home

Children's Home [Ray of Hope]

The Children’s Home was established in the year 2003 to provide learning facilities for children from deprived families or destitute children. Since then it has come a long way in providing the educational needs of these children. The Children Home is situated in Barhi Block of Hazaribagh District, Jharkhand. This is a shelter home for children who don’t have families or have a single parent. These children who reside here are from all over Jharkhand. At the home presently there are 42% of girls and 58% of boys. At present, there are 60 boys in this home.

Focus:

•  On working towards the overall development of the children other than education.
•  The Children’s home follows a strict nutritious menu for the children residing in it.
•  Children are treated equally with utmost care and dedication.

Activities:

•  The children are provided with a home-like environment with proper care.
•  Regular medical check-ups are done for the children.
•  The children are provided education by qualified teachers and trainers.
•  Apart from studies, extracurricular activities are also conducted for the children so that they can develop their skills.
•  Vocational training is provided to older children such as gardening, tailoring, embroidery, bakery, repairing electronic equipment and appliances. These activities help them to develop their hobbies.
•  In this home physical activities are also given much weightage and importance, which helps the children in developing their skills in sports.
•  This home has all the facilities and is provided free of cost to the children residing here.

JJK is working in Churchu Block of Hazaribag District for the achievement of the objectives of RNTCP.

Mobile Medical Unit

This unit largely caters to primary health care needs. JJK started MMU in 2010, to improve the accessibility of health care services in Chandankyari Block of Bokaro District with the help of the National Rural Health Mission.

JJK started the VIHAAN project in the year 2012 at the Hazaribag District covering all the16 Blocks.

With the support of "NABARD" Integrated Tribal Development Project in Bishnugarh Block of Hazaribagh District.

Livelihood Development

Under livestock development the tribal and PTG are being provided with Animal health check up cum vaccination camps and support for birds and pigs to enhance their income.

Forestry Development

With the support of JTDS nine community forest management communities were established in Bundu and Arki Blocks. 

Integrated Watershed Management

The total coverage of this program includes nine blocks in four districts of Jharkhand State.

Integrated Tribal Development Fund – WADI Project

Wadi is an Agri-Hortiforestry model that promotes tree-based farming.

People Biodiversity Register

JJK is implementing the Bio-Diversity Act, 2002 in the Koderma District of Jharkhand with the support of the Jharkhand Biodiversity Board.

BRASS

Under livestock development the tribal and PTG are being provided with Animal health check up cum vaccination camps and support for birds and pigs to enhance their income. Seventeen health camps were organised till this financial year in which 1285 animals are treated which covered 545 household of Bundu block. One poultry birds of Red Divyayan breed and 32 khakhi Campbell duck breed given. 60 Khakhi Campbell duck breed is given jointly to three SHGs.

With the support of JTDS nine community forest management communities were established in Bundu and Arki Blocks. 

Skill Trainings

Jan Jagran Kendra is implementing a project for the development of crafts based on bamboo, Docra, terracotta, jute, brass, metal and traditional silver jewellery involving artisans 

Training Of Pri Representatives

In its effort of strengthening the PRI Institution, JJK has provided training to 1202 Representatives of PRI including Ward Members and Mukhiyas of Kashmar, Peterwar, Chandankyari and Gomia Block of Bokaro District.

Research On Malaria

The organisation has been actively supporting to Govt. of Jharkhand in its malaria prevention drive since year 2005.

Child Labour

JJK has carried out a research to Study of the status of education of out of school children, child labour and orphans in the Hazaribag District.
